5. The Divide

Listen to: The Divide

The word for your Logbook is – TO.

Loukas ruffled his feathers and began preparing Sparks for the next stage. “We are coming to the divide. A separation between the known world and the unknown. Guardians of the threshold are there to push you back. They will try to tell you that you are not good enough, that you are stupid and will never achieve anything. Do not believe them; it is simply not true. Stay strong, no matter what they throw at you to knock you off balance. Believe in what you cannot yet see – your inner self.”

Sparks could see the sense in these words and strode on with great purpose and determination – though very unprepared for what was about to happen. There was a mighty wind of words hurled at Sparks; they could hear phrases from the past, bullying words and hurtful memories that caused Sparks to turn, wanting to run the other way. “Hold fast,” said Loukas, the guardians can only win if you let them.

Suspended at the entry point, and sensing this was an action role-play game, when suddenly, a host of algorithms hurled themselves at Sparks. A mix of scenarios, challenging them to move forward or to quit. There is a natural fear of the unknown, and the threshold between the known and the unknown is a particularly difficult bridge to cross. Sparks was entering challenge mode, and he held fast to the things they knew to be true. A double jump was catastrophic as they felt they were falling into the abyss. Down, down they went, voices telling them they were not good enough to go any further and that this would be their last game. However, Sparks’ inner voice contained a secure ring and was just enough to enable the crossing – they were in, and a new scene appeared.

Turn back to your Logbook. What are you feeling? What’s important, and are there times when you are tempted to turn back?

Now, head off to the next checkpoint – Trials & Conquests, there is much to learn.
